Psychiatric disorders are common in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. Obsessive compulsive symptoms are also frequent in these patients. Longitudinal studies highlighted that psychiatric disorders like depression and anxiety may occur in patients who have undergone temporal lobe epilepsy surgery. There are a few case reports concerning de novo obsessive compulsive disorder after temporal lobe epilepsy surgery. In this paper, we present a case with an acute-onset of obsessive compulsive disorder after right-sided temporal lobectomy and amygdalohippocampectomy, whose symptoms were recovered by SSRI treatment. © Archives of Neuropsychiatry, Published by Galenos Publishing.
