social appearance anxiety scale developed by Hart et al., (2008) and adapted to Turkish by Doğan
(2010), and the self-confidence scale developed by Akın (2007) were used. Cronbach Alpha
coefficients were used for the reliability of the measurement tools, and the skewness and
kurtosis values were examined for the normality distribution of the data. Pearson Correlation
Analysis was used to determine the relationship between social physique anxiety and selfconfidence, while differences between groups were determined by independent sample t-test
and OneWay Anova. In the study, it was observed that there was a statistically significant
difference in the social physique anxiety scale only according to the gender variable, while no
significant difference was found in any of the other variables and scales. In addition, it was
observed that there was a low-level negative relationship between social physique anxiety and
self-confidence levels of elite ice hockey players.
