Alpha naphthyl acetate esterase activity in the peripheral blood leukocytes of Turkeys

Abstract

This study was aimed at determining the alpha naphthyl acetate (ANAE) activity of T lymphocytes and the ratio of T lymphocytes in the peripheral blood leukocytes of healthy adult turkeys. Material for the study was obtained from blood samples of 20 adult American bronz breed turkeys. In the ANAE staining 51.8±0.62% of the lymphocytes were found to give ANAE positive reaction. Whilst the heterophil and eosinophil granulocytes gave granular and the monocytes diffuse granular positivity, thrombocytes were observed to give negative reactions.
