Özet

The development of measles is a childhood viral disease that can cause high epidemics, and with the introduction of the vaccine in 1963, epidemics and deaths in the world have decreased. Vaccination has been started since 1970 and conducted elimination and vaccination studies continue in parallel with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). The elimination target has not been achieved in the world and our country, and there are outbreaks due to reasons such as vaccine rejection and migration. When the measles cases, which have increased in recent years in our country, are examined, it is noteworthy that these are composed of people whose vaccines are missing. Therefore, our country should reconsider their vaccination policies and take necessary measures to ensure high measles vaccination coverage. The purpose of this review is to examine measles elimination and vaccine practices in the world and in Türkiye, and to offer solutions where recent measles case increases may occur.
