Biography

Prof. Dr. Fatma Arslan completed her undergraduate medical education in the English program at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine between 1995 and 2002. She then completed her residency training in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine from 2003 to 2008. Her residency thesis focused on evaluating exercise capacity in patients with COPD using cardiopulmonary exercise testing.

After completing her compulsory service between 2009 and 2010, she worked as an assistant professor at Near East University Faculty of Medicine during 2010–2011. In 2011, she began working as a specialist physician at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, where she was promoted to associate professor in 2018 and to full professor in 2024. She is currently a faculty member in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Arslan has authored numerous publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has delivered invited talks and presented papers at various scientific meetings. She has also served as the principal investigator in several research projects. She has been actively involved in tobacco control and public awareness initiatives, particularly within the Turkish Thoracic Society. Within the society, she has held both scientific and administrative roles in units such as the COPD Working Group, the Tobacco Control Working Group, and the Ankara Branch.

She is a member of several national and international scientific societies and speaks English at an advanced level.
