Prof. MEHMET ARİF ŞAHİNLİ

I completed my undergraduate education with a scholarship in the Department of Statistics at Hacettepe University, my Master's in Econometrics at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Gazi University, and my PhD in Agricultural Economics at the Faculty of Agriculture at Ankara University. Between 2002-2003, I received official statistics training (Modules on Core Official Statistics) at the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (UNSIAP) in Tokyo, Japan.

I have advanced level proficiency in English, with certifications in YDS, YÖKDİL, IELTS (British Council-2012), and TOEFL (Turkish-American Association-2003) . In 2017, I was accepted as a Research Fellow for one year at the University of Reading, where I prepared a project titled "The Efficiency Analysis of Agricultural Establishments" under the Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Individual Fellowship program. However, due to work commitments, I could not participate in this invitation.

I have 51 publications in national/international indexed journals. Thirteen of these are published in SCI/SCI-E journals, and 39 are in national/international indexed journals. I have participated in 23 international and 4 national conferences. I am the author of two books titled "Econometrics and Agricultural Economics Statistics." Eight of my SCI/SCI-E articles were published after my Associate Professorship.

I successfully completed project work as the project leader in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s project "Impact Analysis of Drip Irrigation Support in Turkey," as a project coordinator in two BAP projects, as a project leader in one BAP project, and as a research assistant in two other BAP projects.

I have successfully completed administrative duties such as Assistant Director of the Institute, Assistant Department Head, Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Member of the Institute Board, Erasmus Coordinator, Bologna Coordinator, Farabi Coordinator, and Member of the Faculty Management Board. I currently continue my duties as a member of the Academic Personnel Working Conditions and Evaluation Committee, Academic Incentive Committee, Erasmus (Institute) Coordinator, and Committee Member.

I served as an editorial board member for journals such as the Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension Economic Sociology, Food Science Nutrition Technology, American Journal of Environmental Engineering and Science, International Journal of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and International Journal of Economic Theory and Application, and as a secretary for the Statistics Research Journal.

I have done a large number of peer reviews for SCI/SCI-E journals and other international and national journals, and I currently serve as a referee for several journals, as well as an external consultant and panelist for projects submitted to TÜBİTAK.

I still teach courses such as Economics (in English) at the undergraduate level in Agricultural Sciences (AGR), Agricultural Economics & Management (in English), Econometrics, Finance, Economics (for the Dairy Technology and Field Crops departments), Agricultural Economics and Business Management, and Macroeconomics. At the Master's level, I teach Microeconomic Analyses and Research Methods, and at the PhD level, I teach Econometrics Principles.

I have supervised the Master's theses of two international (from Ghana and Zambia) and three national students, and completed the doctoral theses of two PhD students. I am currently supervising three national Master's students and one doctoral student.

I hold certificates in various fields such as English Statistics Education from DİE, United Nations Official Statistics Training, Project Management at Ankara University, English courses (Turkish-English Cultural Association, METU Parlar Foundation, BİLSİT), State Language English training, Data Mining, and many others. In 2021, I received a certification with a high score from the University of London in Machine Learning through an exam and project I completed. Additionally, I participated in the "Education at Ankara University" workshop organized by the Rectorate of Ankara University in March 2023.

My research and academic interests include Time Series Analysis, Panel Data Analysis, Micro/Macro Econometrics, Modeling and Forecasting, Efficiency Analysis (Stochastic Frontier Analysis), Competition Analysis, Machine Learning, Demand Analysis (LES, ELES, AIDS models), Regression Analysis, Natural Resources and Environmental Economics, Official Statistics, Data Analytics, and Econometric analysis and modeling.

In terms of international collaboration, through research and publications with prominent researchers from the USA, I co-authored a paper on Artificial Intelligence, which was published in a high-impact journal in 2022.

I actively aadvanced use statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS, Eviews, and Frontier in my statistical and econometric analysis work.

I am a member of several national and international professional and scientific organizations.
