Abstract:

This study put the position of Islam on evaluation through post-Cold War theories of global dominance within the scope of religion and international relations. Historical course of the connection between religion and international relations was examined with the focus steered towards post-Cold War era. The evaluation and position of Islam in the post-Cold War theories that has been constructed to define the emergent conjuncture was studied within the scope of otherization. The concept of the other was analyzed through religion and international relations in order to extend and enrich the perspective of the study. Furthermore, the thread of hegemonic interrelations within the aforementioned theories was strived to be resolved with a critical approach based on Islamic viewpoint. The relevance of these theories that were originally arisen from the USA and Russia with Islam was compared comprehensively so as to contribute to the literature with genuine insights.
