Özet:İnsanın nasıl bir varlık olduğu sorusu hem felsefe hem de dini inançlar açısından önemli bir soru olagelmiştir. Teistik inançlar ekseninde insan, tarih boyunca genellikle, ruh adı verilen gayri-maddi bir varlıkla özdeşleştirilmiştir. Bu genel kanaate itiraz eden teistler ise insanın maddi bir varlık olması gerektiğini iddia ederek, bu tutumun da teistik inançlarla çelişmediğini öne sürmüşlerdir. İnsanın maddi mi yoksa gayri-maddi bir varlık mı olduğu sorusu ekseninde süregiden bu tartışmanın, özellikle de günümüz insana ilişkin bilimsel ve felsefi çalışmaları bağlamında oldukça alevlendiği söylenebilir. Bu çalışmanın temel problemi de insanın tabiatının ne olduğu ve teistik inançların insanın tabiatı meselesini ele alma noktasında bazı kısıtlamalar getirip getirmediğidir. Bu bağlamda, güncel felsefi ve bilimsel verilere dayalı olarak günümüzde ne tür insan anlayışlarının ön plana çıktığı ve bunların teistik inançlar açısından ne tür bir önem taşıdığına değinilecektir. Ele alınacak diğer bir problem, insanın maddi bir varlık olarak ele alan görüşlerin gerçekten teizmle bağdaşmayan yönlerinin olup olmadığıdır. The question about the human nature has been important to religion as well as philosophy. In the axis of theistic beliefs, man has been identified with an immaterial/an intangible entity called the soul throughout history. The theists, who objected to this general opinion, claimed that human beings should be a material being and that this attitude does not contradict with theistic beliefs. It can be said that this debate, which continues on the axis of the question of whether man is a material or an immaterial entity, has become quite inflamed, especially in the context of today's scientific and philosophical studies on human. The main problem of this study is what the nature of man is and whether theistic beliefs impose some restrictions on the issue of human nature. In this context, based on current philosophical and scientific data, what kinds of human understandings come to the fore today and what kind of importance they have in terms of theistic beliefs will be discussed. Another problem to be addressed is whether there are aspects of the views –that treat human as a material being– that are really incompatible with theism.
