Özet:Bu çalışmada, çevre için halk eğitimi çalışmaları yürüten, ilgili sivil toplum örgütlerinden Çevre Kültür Değerlerini Koruma ve Tanıtma (ÇEKÜL) Vakfı, Doğal Hayatı Koruma Vakfı, Türkiye Erozyonla Mücadele, Ağaçlandırma ve Doğal Varlıkları Koruma (TEMA) Vakfı’nın; ayrıca Çevre ve Orman Bakanlığı’nın, halka yönelik eğitim faaliyetlerini saptamak amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma modelinde tasarlanan bu araştırmanın verileri, kuruluşların eğitim yetkilileri ile yapılan görüşmelerle ve belge tarama yoluyla elde edilmiştir.Verilerin çözümlenmesi sonucunda, kuruluşların yürüttüğü eğitim faaliyetlerinin sorun merkezli değil konu merkezli eğitimler olduğu; eğitimlerin düzenlenmesinde hedef kitlenin istemlerine ve gereksinmelerine dayanılmadığı, sunumun esas olduğu; katılımcıların demografik özelliklerine ilişkin yeterince kayıt tutulmadığı, dolayısıyla katılımcıların özelliklerinin eğitimlere etkisinin önemli görülmediği; eğitimlerde eğitici olarak görev alan kişilerin kendi konularında uzman olmalarına karşın “yetişkin eğitimi”ne dair yeterliliklerinin bulunmadığı; eğitimlerde ilgi çekici ve merak uyandırıcı yöntem ve materyallerin kullanıldığı saptanmıştır.Abstract In this study, it is aimed to investigate educational activities, targeted at the community, of some non-governmental organizations which are carrying out public education activities for the environment such as the Foundation for the Protection and Promotion of the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ÇEKÜL), World Wildlife Fund Turkey, Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats (TEMA). The data of this research that is designed as a qualitative research have been obtained through interviews with organizations and educational authorities in addition to document scanning. As a result of the data analysis, it has been concluded that training activities conducted by organizations are not problem-based but subjectcentered; the requests and needs of the target audience is not taken into consideration in the organizations of the trainings,whereas the presentation is the basis;adequate records on the participants’ demographic characteristics are not kept, and therefore the effect of participants’ characteristics on the trainings are not regarded significant; although trainers serving in the trainings are experts on their own subject fields, they lack in qualifications in"adult education";in the trainingsinteresting and intriguing methods and materials are used.
