Özet:Bu çalışmada, 1904-1905 Rus-Japon Savaşının, Japon manga kitaplarına yansıması ele alınmıştır. Japonya’nın Rusya gibi büyük bir gücü yenerek dünya sahnesinde önemli güçler arasına girmesinde dönüm noktalarından biri olan bu savaşın, Japon toplumuna mangalar aracılığı ile nasıl yansıtıldığı incelenmiştir. Japon manga sanatçılarının Rus-Japon Savaşına bakış açılarının da görülebileceği bu çalışmada; İngilizce, Japonca ve Türkçe akademik kitap ve makaleler, bu savaş üzerine daha önce yapılmış lisansüstü tezler, İngiliz belgeleri, dönemin yabancı basınına ait gazeteler ve cilt sayısı yirmi ikiye kadar ulaşan altı farklı manga üzerine çalışılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın yapılma amacı, son yıllarda hem Japonya’da hem dünya çapında büyük bir ilgi ile okunan Japon mangalarında, 1904-1905 Rus-Japon Savaşı’nın okuyuculara tarihsel veriler ışığında yansıtılıp yansıtılmadığının anlaşılmasıdır. Bunun anlaşılabilmesi için incelemiş olduğumuz manga kitaplarındaki hem görsel hem de yazılı ögeler tarihsel verilerle karşılaştırılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda ise, hem Japon Tarihi hem de Rus-Japon Savaşı üzerine yazılmış mangalarda, yazılı ve görsel ögelerin tarihsel bilgilerle büyük oranda örtüştüğü saptanmıştır.Abstract In this thesis it has been studied that the reflection of 1904-1905 Russo- Japanese War on Japanese manga books. It has been examined that this war which is one of the turning points in Japanese history that leads Japan to become one of the major Powers on the World stage as a great power after defeating Russia and this study delineates the way manga represented the war to Japanese society. This study examines that, the perspective of Japanese manga artists on this war. In this dissertation, various documents have been analysed such as English, Japanese and Turkish academic books and articles, postgraduate thesis, the Bristish documents, the newspapers of foreign press of the period and six different manga that has 22 volumes. The aim of this dissertation is to argue the Russo-Japanese War is reflected in the light of historical data in Japanese manga, which has been read with great interest both in Japan and around the World in recent years. For this purpose visual and textual elements in manga books has been compared with historical data. As a consequence this study discloses that, visual and textual elements in manga, about both the History of Japan and Russo-Japanese War, have close paralells with the historical data.
