Özet:

Bu çalışma, Osmanlı'da Modern Bilim Algısı'nın Doğuşu'nu anlamayı ve açıklamayı hedeflemiştir. Bu kapsamda, Osmanlı Klasik İlim Cemaati'nin zaman içinde nasıl modernleştiği, Tasavvuf Cemaati'nin bu süreçteki durumu ile birlikte ele alınmıştır. Bu tartışma, Osmanlı Devleti'nin bu yüzyıldaki ekonomik, askerî ve siyâsî problemleri ile ilişkilendirilmiştir. Böylece, Osmanlı'da Modern Bilim Algısı'nın Doğuşu'nun Modern Teknoloji Algısı'nın Doğuşu'nun bir sonucu olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Bu algının ise, Batı'daki gibi bir Devrim-Evrim Süreci ile değil, kendine özgü bir Reform-Evrim süreci ile ortaya çıktığı sonucuna varılmıştır. This study aimed to understand and explain the Emergence of Perception of Modern Science in the Ottoman Empire. In this context, the modernization of the Ottoman Classical Science Society has been discussed together with the status of Sufi Community in this process. This discussion has been correlated with the economic, military and political problems of the Ottoman Empire in this century. Thus, it is clearly understood that the Emergence of the Perception of Modern Science in the Ottoman Empire was the result of the Emergence of Perception of Modern Technology. It is concluded that this perception arises not with a Revolution-Evolution Process as seen in the West, but with a process of Reform-Evolution.
