Özet:Din ve bilim arasındaki ilişkinin doğru bir şekilde tespit edilmesine birçok faktörün etkide bulunduğunu söylemek mümkündür. Bunların en önemlilerinden birisi din ve bilim kavramlarının hangi anlamda kullanıldığının belirlenmesidir. Bunun yanında, bu iki sistemin doğal yapılarının ne olduğunun da açığa çıkarılması gerekir. Ayrıca, insanın gerçeklik hakkında neyi elde edebileceği sorusunun doğru cevabı da bu ilişkinin özü hakkında önemli ipuçları sunar.John Polkinghorne, eleştirel gerçekçilik çerçevesinde çizilen tablonun, din-bilim ilişkisine dair en sağlıklı resmi sunduğunu savunur. O, bilimin mütevazı ama kesinlikle verimli bir yorumunun, evrende olup bitenlere daha uygun düştüğünü iddia eder. Dini açıklamanın da bir teoride bulunması gereken temel niteliklere sahip olması gerektiğini öne sürer. Onun, bilim, din ve gerçeklik ilişkisi hakkındaki yaklaşımları oldukça isabetli görünmekle birlikte, bu anlayışının spesifik bilimsel teorilere uygulanmasının ciddi sıkıntıları beraberinde getirdiği iddia edilebilir.Bu çalışmada, Polkinghorne’un din ve bilimin doğası, olası ilişki durumları ve özel teoriler temelindeki yansımaları, açıklayıcı ve eleştirel bir üslupla ele alınmıştır.AbstractIt is possible to state that many elements affect the true establisment way of relationship between religion and science. One of the these factors is determining of what religion and science mean. Besides that, it must be disclosed of what is their nature. Furthermore, the true answer of the question about what can a humanbeing knows as to reality gives important clues about the essence of this relationship.John Polkinghorne argues that the scenery which critical realism has gives the most clear expression of religion-science relationship. He claims that a modest as well as strictly fruitful interpretation of science fits with how the cosmos is. Additionally, Polkinghorne argues that religious explanation must have the basic qualities which a good theory has. Although his approaches seem quite accurate, it can be argued that the implementation of his understanding to specific scientific theories brings with serious problems.In this study, beside Polkinghorne’s views about the nature of religion and science, and their possible true relations, the reflections of this situations discussed with descriptive and critical tone.
