Özet:Günümüzde önemli sayıda mensubuyla oldukça farklı alanlarda Katolik Kilisesi’ne hizmet eden Dominiken Tarikatı köklü bir geleneğe sahiptir. Dominik Guzman tarafından kurulan tarikat, kurucusunun benimsediği manevi ve idari yapısı ile geleneksel tarikat anlayışında çok sayıda yeniliğe önayak olmuş, Katolik öğretiyi sürdürme yönünde yaptıkları hizmetleri, misyonerlik faaliyetleri, engizisyon mahkemelerindeki çalışmaları gibi pek çok alanda Katolik Kilisesi'ne önemli katkılar sağlamıştır. Dominikenler, kuruluşundan itibaren günümüze kadar her çağda içinde bulundukları dönemin şartlarına uyum sağlamaya çalışmış, bu yönde yenilikler yapmış, ancak bunu yaparken temel özelliklerini korumaya özen göstermiştir. Tarihte pek çok tarikat kendi içinde bölünmeler yaşamış ancak Dominikenler için böyle bir durum söz konusu olmamıştır. Tarikatın temel amacı, İncil’in mesajını tüm dünyaya iletmektir. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için oluşturduğu sistem Dominiken Tarikatı'nın dini ve idari yapısını, felsefe, teoloji ve eğitim anlayışını şekillendirmiştir. Dominikenler'in tarihi misyonu, Katolik Kilisesi öğretilerini savunmak ve korumaktır. Tarikat mensupları, bu hedeflerini gerçekleştirmek için günümüzde de çeşitli alanlarda hizmetlerini sürdürmektedir.Giriş, dört bölüm ve sonuçtan oluşan araştırmamızda ilk iki bölümde Dominikenler'in tarihsel süreci ele alınmış, üçüncü bölümde tarikatın manevi karakteri incelenmiş ve dördüncü bölümde de tarikatın Katolik Kilisesi'ndeki yeri ortaya konulmuştur. Sonuçta ise tüm bölümlerin analizi yapılarak genel bir değerlendirme yapılmıştır.AbstractWith its considerable number of members at present, Dominican Order which serves to the Catholic Church in various aspects has a long-established tradition. Founded by Saint Dominic Guzman, the order has anticipated many novelties in the traditional order perception with the spiritual and administrative structure embraced by its founder. Furthermore, it has made significant contributions to the Catholic Church in many ways such as its services to pursue the Catholic teachings, missionary activities, and its works in the inquisition. From its establishment until today, Dominicans have tried to adapt to the conditions of the present period, made innovations in this way, yet it has been careful to preserve the basic features while doing this. Throughout history, many orders have experienced divisions in themselves except from Dominicans. The main purpose of the order is to convey the message of the Bible to the whole world. The system that it formed in order for achieving this purpose shaped the spiritual and administrative structure and philosophy, theology, and education perception of the Dominican Order. The historical mission of the Dominicans is to defend and preserve the principles of the Catholic Church. The members of the order continue to serve in many fields to achieve these goals now.In our study consisting of an introduction, four body parts and a conclusion, we investigated the historical background of Dominicans in the first two parts, reviewed the spiritual character of the order in the third part and determined the place of the order in the Catholic Church in the fourth part. In the conclusion part, we made analysis of all the parts and made a general evaluation.
