Özet:

Tez giriş, iki bölüm ve sonuçtan oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde ruh ve ölümsüzlük konusunda Plotinus öncesi düşünürlerin görüşlerine yer verilecektir. Ayrıca ruh ve ölümsüzlük problemlerinin genel bir değerlendirilmesi yapılacaktır. Birinci bölümde Plotinus'un düşünce sisteminin önemli bir kısmını açıklığa kavuşturacak olan "ruh" kavramı ele alınarak incelenecektir. Fakat ruh hakkındaki görüşlerini anlamak için Plotinus'un pek çok yerde referans olarak gördüğü Platon ve Aristoteles'in düşüncelerinin de değerlendirilmesi gerekecektir. Ayrıca Stoacılık ve Epikürcülük okullarının ruhun maddi olduğu yönündeki düşüncelerine ve Plotinus'un onlara yönelttiği eleştirilere de yer verilecektir. İkinci bölümde ise Plotinus'un ölümsüzlük problemini çözüme kavuşturmada izlediği metotlar ortaya konularak ölümden sonra ruhun varlığını devam ettirmesinin imkanını nasıl ortaya koyduğu tartışılacaktır. Sonuç bölümünde ise konuyla ilgili genel değerlendirmeler yapılacaktır. The present study consists of introduction, two main parts and conclusion. The introduction will offer the views of pre-Plotinus thinkers on the soul and immortality. A general evaluation of the problems of soul and immortality will also be made. In the first part, the concept of soul which clarifies an important part of the system of Plotinus, will be examined. But to understand his views on the soul, the ideas of Plato and Aristotle which Plotinus sees as reference in many places will also need to be considered. Also, in this part the school of Stoicism and Epicurean's thoughts of the soul as material and Plotinus' criticism of them will be given. In the second part, the methods of Plotinus in solving the problem of immortality will be put forward and how the soul will continue to exist after death will be discussed. The conclusion includes an overview and general evaluations.
