Özet:Bu çalışmanın amacı yirminci yüzyılın başlarında teorik fizikteki gelişmeler çerçevesinde ortaya çıkan bilimin nasıl ilerlediği sorunsalına olanaklı bir yanıt geliştirmektir. Bu problemi aydınlatmak ve açıklamak adına bilim filozoflarından farklı olarak dilin sentaktik çözümlemesi metot olarak izlenmiştir. Bu metot bağlamında filozofların ele aldığı gibi öncelikle bir bilim kavramından (tasarımından) yola çıkarak değil de, 'ilerleme' kavramını analiz ederek bir yol izlenecektir.Bu bakış açısına dayanarak tezimizi iki ana başlık altında tasarladık. Birinci bölümde 'İlerleme' kavramının etimolojik, anlamsal ve tarihsel analizi yapıldı, ikinci bölümde ise söz konusu temel probleme (bilimin nasıl ilerlediğine) yönelik öne sürülen ilerleme teorileri karşılaştırmalı ve tartışmalı bir eksende irdelendi.Birinci bölümde 'ilerleme' kavramına ilişkin yürüttüğümüz çalışma, söz konusu kavramın etimolojik çözümlemede içsel anlam, tarihsel perspektifte ise dışsal anlam olmak üzere iki ayrı anlam eksenine ait olduğunu göstermiştir. İçsel anlamı belirleyici unsur olarak ele aldığımız zaman hem 'ilerleme' kavramı üzerinde bir konsensüsün sağlandığı, hem de ‘ilerleme’ kavramının sanıldığının aksine ilk kez modern dönemde değil de, Ortaçağ Hıristiyan dünyasında karakterize olduğunu görmekteyiz.'İlerleme' kavramının içsel (intrinsic) anlamına bağlı olarak ulaştığımız norm ve standartlar bizlere sentaktik düzeyde bilimsel ilerlemenin de şu standartları sağlaması gerektiğini göstermiştir.i) Bilimin bir hedefi olmalı.295ii) Bilimsel ilerlemeyi belirleyen standartlar ya doğrudan hedefle ilintili olmalı ya da hedeften türetilmeli.iii) Bilimsel ilerleme sürecinde art arda gelen teorilerden yeni teori eskisinden daha iyi ve daha başarılı olmalı.iv) Bilimsel ilerleme sürecinde yeni teori eskisinin başarılarını açıkladığı gibi yeni bir takım olguları da açıklamalıdır.Filozoflar bilimsel ilerlemeyi sağlayan ölçütlerin ne olması gerektiği sorusuna farklı yanıtlar geliştirerek, bilimin nasıl seyrettiği sorunsalına bambaşka yaklaştıkları görülmektedir. Dolayısıyla ulaşmış olduğumuz standartları bilim filozoflarının öne sürmüş oldukları ilerleme tasarımları ile mukayese ederek, bilimin nasıl ilerlediğine ilişkin (sentaktik açıdan) olanaklı bir yanıt geliştirilmeye çalışılmıştır.AbstractThe aim of this study was to find an answer for the question of how to progress of the science, that emerged in the context of developments in theoretical physics in the early 20th century. To illuminate and explain this problem unlike the philosopher of science was seen as a method of syntactic analysis of language. In the context of this method will be followed through the concept of progress by analyzing.We have prepared our dissertation under two main chapters on the basis of this perspective. In the first section, we have made a historical analysis depending on the meaning of etymology of concept of 'progress'. In the second section, we have suggested the basic problem of how did science progress accordig to the proposed theory by means of progress were investigated in the axis of controversial and comparative ones.In the first section our study on the concept of progress showed that the meaning of two separete axes which are intrinsic meaning in the etymological analysis and extrinsic meaning in historical perspective. Considering the intrinsic meaning as determining factors, we see that achieved consensus on a concept and the concept of 'progress' is not the first time in the modern period.We have reached norms and standards which were depending on the intrinsic meaning the concept of progress, showing the scientific progress need to provide the following standards in the syntactic level.i) Science should have a goal.ii) Determining the standard of scientific progress or to be directly related goals.297iii) In the process of scientific progress, new theory among the theories should be better and more successful than the old oneiv) In the process of scientific progress, new theory should explain the new phenomenon and ones explained by the old theoryPhilosophers have developed different answers to the question of what should be the criterias (standards) which provided the scientific progress. Thus, by comparing the standards that we have reached with philosophers of science have put forward imaginations of progress.
