Özet:Budist kutsal metinleri oldukça zengin ve geniştir. Budizm tarihinde zaman içerisinde görüş ayrılıklarının oluşması sebebiyle çeşitli Budist mezhepleri ve ekolleri ortaya çıkmıştır. Budizm'de yaşanan bu çeşitlilik, kutsal metinlerine de yansımış ve farklı mezhep ve ekollere göre önem derecesi değişen çok sayıda kutsal metin oluşmuştur. Araştırmamızın başlıca konusu, Lotus Sutra ve Budist kutsal metinleri arasındaki yeri ve önemidir. Zengin Budist külliyatı içerisinde Lotus Sutra'nın ayrı ve önemli bir yeri vardır. Mahayana kutsal metinleri arasında oldukça popüler ve etkili olan Lotus Sutra, ele aldığı konular, getirmiş olduğu yenilikler ve iddiaları bakımından Budistlerin dini hayatlarında önemli bir yer etmiştir. O, Buda'nın ölmeden önce vaaz ettiği nihai Dharmayı içerdiği iddiasını taşımaktadır. Dikkat çeken diğer iddiası ise herkese Budalık vaad etmesidir. Lotus Sutra'ya göre herkes birer bodhisattvadır ve Buda olabilme potansiyeline sahiptir. Doğuştan Budalık doğasına sahip olan kişi, Lotus öğretilerini anlamaya çalışarak ve uygulayarak gerçek kurtuluşu elde edebilir. Lotus Sutra'da yer alan Beceri Araçları, Tek Araç, Buda'nın Ezeli ve Ebedi Oluşu ile Bodhisattva Anlayışı ve Uygulamaları, tezimizin diğer başlıca araştırma konularını oluşturmaktadır. Due to the divergences during the history of Buddhism a variety of Buddhist sects and schools have appeared. This diversity has reflected on the sacred texts of Buddhism and a great number of sacred texts whose importance can change according to different sects and schools have appeared. The main subject of our study is Lotus Sutra and the place and importance of it among the Buddhist sacred texts. Lotus Sutra has a distinct and important place in the rich Buddhist canon. Lotus Sutra, which is quite popular and efficient among the sacred texts of Mahayana has made a significant impression on the lives of the Buddhists in point of topics, innovations and claims of it. It claims to contain the ultimate Dharma preached by Buddha before his nirvana. The other conspicuous claim of it is promise of Buddhahood to all people by itself. According to Lotus Sutra, everyone is a boddhisattva and has a potential to become a Buddha. A person endowed with the Buddhahood nature may attain liberation by trying to understand and practicing the Lotus doctrines. The other main study subjects of our thesis consist of Skillful Means, Only Vehicle, Eternal Buddha and Concept and Practices of Boddhisattva.
