“Darts for Everyone: Supporting Inclusion and Diversity in Darts Through Digital Activities” (DIGIDARTS)
is a cross-cutting project that aims to eliminate barriers in darts by both providing innovative digital facilities
that will provide opportunites for diverse players. The project is based on the implementation of digital and
blended sharing and learning opportunities in regarding darts play in five European countries.
Being consistent with both digital dimension and inclusivity and diversity dimension of horizontal aspects
of the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership, the DIGIDARTS Project brings together a consortium with
diverse training and educational experiences in the darts game, with varying institutional backgrounds
and derived from diverse cultural contexts. The consortium, which consists of five institutions from five
different countries, including Turkey (coordinator), Austria, Romania, Hungary, and Iceland, is itself
represents diversity and inclusion aspects in the EU by its structuration. Institutions are also varied from
HEI to darts federations and darts NGOs, which will combine their training and educational expertise and
capacities for supporting people with fewer opportunities in darts, mainly disabled players, women players,
economically disadventegous, young ones and beginners.
Since digital technologies are enabling innovative ways for virtual cooperation and experimentation in
almost all kinds of sports, DIGIDARTS will benefit from and support these new ways of sharing and playing
practices by creating a virtual ecosystem for darts. An app for beginners in darts, an open-access elearning material, blended tournaments, digital storytelling as webinars, blended workshops, and an openaccess documentary on darts players are the major tools that will support inclusivity and diversity among
players and organisations through digital facilities in European darts area. As open access materials
available for players and organizations in darts, entire digital tools and virtual channels of DIGIDARTS will
ensure sustainability of the inclusivity and diversity impact among inner and outer stakeholders after the
Project duration.
DIGIDARTS will create an impact on the European darts area by construction of a digitalized ecosystem
for all players particularly individuals with limited opportunities who want to develop their darts experiences
and want more engagement with darts despite lack of individual resources. Darts has been one of the
grassroot sports that demands resources from indivuals such as traveling to the local or European
tournaments as players and intensive off line engagements with darts. By creating a virtual darts’
ecosystem, DIGIDARTS will make darts more penetrated to the daily lives of all people especially people
with fewer opportunities in society. At the organizational level, digital facilities and deliverables of the
DIGIDARTS will enhance cooperation and netwroking capacities of partner institutions which will l support
sustainability of the objectives of DIGIDARTS after the project duration. To construct a digitalized
ecosystem for darts in Europe will also generate eco friendly ways of implementing project activities that
will be a novel agenda put by DIGIDARTS project into the European darts area.
DIGIDARTS will increase individual participation and organizational capacities in darts play through
creation of the virtual darts ecosystem which will be provided by mutual learnings, shared experiences
and good practices throughout the implementation process in two years. Therefore it will pave the way a
unique collaboration in darts play that will inspire other darts organizations to enlarge co-operation among
other darts organizations in Europe on the basis of value creation for the people with fewer opportunities
in near future.
