Abstract

This paper presents the radiation characteristics of a two-dimensional (2D) horn antenna structure for different multi-source feeding and back wall smoothing variations which are investigated parametrically. In order to get accurate and stable far-field results of the horn antenna in a fast way compare to the other 3D full-wave electromagnetic simulation programs available in the market, an attention grabbing method, which is known as Analytical Regularization Method (ARM), is used. The simulation results of the horn antenna structure, based on the principle of solving the 2D E-polarized wave diffraction problem for homogeneous and perfectly conductive cylindrical obstacles, are justified by performing verifications by using commercially available 3D simulation programs, and obtained results are given in the figures. © 2011 IEEE.
