Abstract

The synthesis of the bis(diazonium) salt derived from 5,6-diamino-1H-benzimidazole and subsequent coupling with P-naphthol are reported. The coupling reaction gives an imidazo-benzotriazole derivative when the diazotization is performed with nitrosyl hydrogen sulfate and a mono-azo compound when coupling is done in the presence of concentrated HCI.
