Although there are maternal and fetal causes identified, it is not possible to elucidate an underlying cause in a significant proportion of cases. A woman of 22 years-old, gravida 2, parity 1 presented in our clinic with a complaint of reduced fetal movements. Her history was significant for intrauterine fetal death at 26th week of gestation during her first pregnancy. An ultrasound exam confirmed diagnosis of fetal death and later fetus was diagnosed with umblical cord torsion after delivery. Umblical cord torsion is rare consequence of cord anomalies, most often encountered in cords with hypercoiling.
